Mr. Alan Cummings entered the United States Navy (USN) in 1982. After graduating from Naval Submarine School in 1983, he reported to the U.S.S. Jacksonville (SSN 699) and served as an Auxiliary Systems Mechanic until 1987. Upon honorable discharge, Mr. Cummings began a thirty year career supporting the Naval Sea Systems Command Undersea Warfare, Surface Warfare, Expeditionary and Mine Warfare and the Naval Special Warfare enterprises with the contracting firms: Life Cycle Engineering Corporation, Columbia Research Corporation, Techmatics Incorporated, Alion Science and Technology and Orbis, Inc. Mr. Cummings’ professional expertise spans U.S. Navy acquisition program technical, engineering, logistics, financial and program management interests.

In 2012, Mr. Cummings joined the Federal Civil Service and assumed his current role as U.S. Navy Boats Life Cycle Manager. This assignment is highly focused on the planning, budgeting and oversight of Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) boat sustainment, including hull, mechanical and electrical system overhaul, boat and system technical refresh/phased replacement and Planning Yard/Port Engineering and In Service Engineering Agent services.
